Bogie & Wheelset Carrier Wagons

 

As bogies and wheelsets became worn or in need of repair, the railways transported these items to the major workshops on specially modified vehicles.

 

There were 2 common 4-wheel wheelset wagons –

-         SWF - converted from a S Truck underframe,

-         KWF - converted from a K wagon underframe.

 

Here are a few common bogie types: -

 

L8 Bogie Carrier

 

L130 carries bogies across the width of the wagon.

 

L853 – built on a ‘E’ wagon. Carries ‘4 Bogies or 13 Wheelsets’
