LSD Open Wagon

 

 

 

NOSF stored in Clyde Yd in 2007

 

These 2 open wagons were built by Clyde Wagon Maintenance Centre during 1971-72. Clyde WMC constructed the wagons using a couple of surplus exMLV fishbelly underframes. They were used in departmental traffic to convey metal shavings from the wagon works to Simsmetal at Mascot.

-                     Coded LSD as built,

-                     Recoded NOSF after 1979.

 

Colour Scheme:

-                     They were painted in standard gunmetal grey with white writing.

 

Period of Service: 1972 – 1989.

 

Operation:

            Although primarily used between CWMC and Mascot, these two wagons have been sighted at Pt Kembla, Cardiff and Chullora Workshops. Up until April 2007, one NOSF had been stored in Clyde down yard, but has since been scrapped on site.

 

Modelling:

            No model is available, and a fishbelly underframe would be a good starting point.
